Northern Lights

A coronal mass ejection (CME) hit Earth’s magnetic field creating a polar geomagnetic storm on August 3rd.  The result was an amazing light show in some parts of the world.

This first picture was taken Kristiasand, Norway by Sebastian Grzywacz who admits his expectations were a bit higher than the experience he had seeing the Northern Lights.

This next picture was taken by Vidar Kolstad in the southern town of Fredrikstad, Norway.

Jesper Gronne snapped this last photo outside of his home in Silkeborg, Denmark.  He also put together a time-lapse video of over 100 photographs.  Be sure to check it out here, I wasn’t able to embed it into this post.
